The Museum illustrates the musical life and theatre activites af Trieste from the 18th century to today with a rich collection of documents, posters, photographs, sketches, prints, sheet music, librettos, autographs and medals. There is a collection of musical instruments that are not only European, costumes, paintings and the faithfully recreated laboratory of the string instrument maker Francesco Zapelli. The music and theatre library is very valuable (over 3,000 pieces), the photography Gallery (52,000) and the Media library which counts more than 20,000 elements amongst which records, tapes, videos, films and slides
